Feeding your bird

A daily selection of fresh fruit, vegetables, nuts and seeds will keep your bird happy. There is also a great selection of food supplements at most vets that specialise in bird care. Keep in mind there are some fruits and vegetables that may harm certain birds. Always have a fresh supply of water, as some birds are messy eaters and will spoil their water.
Foliage
Fresh foliage is a great idea for your pet bird. If the bird were living in the wild it would be living in the trees chewing on branches, flowers and nuts. Foliage is great for your birds diet but is also great entertainment for them.
Your birds home
Birds want to fly, it's a natural instinct. A bird should be able to stretch both wings at the same time. An aviary is ideal but if you do not have the space, then a horizontal cage would be the next best thing. It is unnatural for a bird to be in a cage and we should try to give them as much freedom as possible. Rusty cages and eating trays are poisonous to your bird and should be replaced immediately. Remember "the bigger the bird, the bigger tshe cage required".
Location
Ideally a caged bird should be sheltered from the rain and direct sunlight. We recommend no cages be left on the ground as the bird can feel threatened by predators.
Your bird's need company and entertainment

Birds naturally live in a flock, and therefore like the company of other birds. It is a great idea to have two birds. Some birds may outlive you: the cockatoo for example can live to 120 years, and galahs and corellas can live to 70.
